About BU

This site is set up by building workers who have an interest in Trade Unions we are from different unions in the construction industry but most of us are from the main UK building union the Union of Construction Allied Trades & Technicians UCATT.

All discussion is open and uncensored. We welcome participation by other trade unionist and those with an interest in the construction industry that wish to improve conditions for building workers. Our aim is to stimulate discussion and to give an alternative view from the official UCATT magazine the Building Worker. We believe our site is necessary because we feel that UCATT official information is not always a accurate reflection of what is happening in the union or in the construction industry.

This site is dedicated to all of the stewards and Conveners, learning reps, Full Time Officials and the decent trade unionist past and present struggling to hold the UCATT line.

If you wish this evidence to remain anonymous in case it identifies you please say so. We feel the current system does not provide a forum for discussion, so let us have a free and honest debate about where our union is going. Maybe someday we can have a free forum to openly discuss our views without falling foul of unions rules or  the venom of any disgruntled ruling clique.
